Renee & Her Glass Eye: Freebie Presets

I play around with Lightroom a lot. I use presets from others but sometimes, I want a photo to sing a tune I've never heard before so I create my own. It's not that hard, but one thing I've determined is that there are definite differences in the way a RAW photo and a JPEG photo process a preset. Mine are divided up into the format I think they look best with. You may decide differently and that's okay too!

The following preset was applied to a photo in the JPEG format.

Okay, to the far left is straight out of the camera. To the right I've applied the preset I've called MaryGrace. This preset is yours if you want to apply it to your photos. Just send an email to renfen@charter.net and I'll forward it on to you! One day, I'll learn how to zip them up so they are more easily downloaded. Remember, this preset is for Adobe Lightroom.

Me?

I was raised in the eastern part of NC. I know what it's like to throw muscadine grapes at pigs and work in tobacco the old fashioned way. I learned to mix my dad's bourbon & coke to his liking at a very young age. My mom's roots involved home smoked country ham, collards, tractors and '57 Chevy's. My mom and dad met at a little drive-up diner called the Toot-N-Tell it. I learned to shoot eight ball in a pool hall when I was 14 and have been awesome at it ever since. Don't challenge me or my brother, not for money at least. Perhaps my upbringing was different than yours. That's what makes life interesting, isn't it?

I have always been involved in some sorta of artistic endeavor. When I was younger, I studied fine arts at East Carolina University. In my junior year, I met a boy. I left school, got married and have regretted both decisions ever since. However, there were two wonderful by-products of my marriage. I have two beautiful daughters. During my marriage, I went to nursing school and have worked full time in that career for 17 years. It is rewarding in it's own way but stagnates creativity. I'm gradually letting that career go and hopefully returning to my artistic roots.

My daughters are no worse for the wear when it comes to the divorce. They miss the mom/dad at the same house thing, but are smart enough and old enough to realize that oil & vinegar don't mix. Life is an evolution.

I met my current husband on Match.com. We dated a year before we got married and have been married now for 4 years. That part of my life's story is still being written.

My life is serene, finally.

And no, I don't really have a glass eye.
